Teams from Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club travelled in differing directions last weekend, the Club’s more experienced swimmers going to Millfield for the Exeter Open Meet chasing district qualifying times whilst younger up and coming swimmers to Swindon Tigersharks for a chance to achieve county qualifying times. At Millfield Emma Hill, Rachel and David Williams, Sophie and Sam Purnell, Georgina Barnes, Kieran Hill, Rachel Hampshire, Jack Griggs, Kieran Slater, Amelia and Matthew Griffin, Carl Greenan, Chris Weston, Jack Borthwick and Charlotte Barnes all swam exceptionally well so early in the season and many achieved some of the district times they have set out to get. Medals were also brought back to the Club with David Williams achieving silver in the 100m and 200m backstroke and Bronze in the 100m and 200m breaststroke. Carl Greenan won bronze in the 400m freestyle, Sam Purnell silver in the 800m freestyle and Chris Weston gold in both the 100m and 200m backstroke. Charlotte Barnes, European Junior Breaststroke Gold Medallist lived up to her title, taking gold in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke in her age group. Meanwhile, six of the Club’s younger swimmers travelled to Swindon Link Centre in search of County Qualifying Times and Jordan Edwards, Joshua Garg, David Vick, Williams Locke, Joshua Dobson and Andrew Stevenson all competed well. David Vick took bronze in the 100m breaststroke with Joshua Dobson taking bronze in the longer 400IM competition and Andrew Stevenson silver in the 400m freestyle. Jordan Edwards stormed home in his age group, achieving Gold in the 100m and 200m butterfly, and 100m backstroke, silver in the 400IM and bronze in the 200m backstroke. Well done to all swimmers. |
